Review for PROMOSTYL: Distrito Arenales (Argentina)

10 De Octubre 2018. Como cada año, en el barrio de la Recoleta (en Buenos Aires), la calle Arenales y sus laterales, se cierran al trafico. Las mejores tiendas de diseño abren sus puertas hasta la noche e invitan a los vecinos a disfrutar de una velada, donde el diseño y el arte son los anfitriones.

October 10, 2018. As every year, in the Recoleta neighborhood (in Buenos Aires), Arenales Street and its sides, are closed to traffic. The best design stores open their doors until night and they invite neighbors to enjoy an evening, where design and art are the main hosts.

El recorrido comienza con Shows por las calles. Desde globos iluminados hasta equilibristas y Dj´s en vivo. Las cuadras que conforman el Distrito Arenales se convierten en una verdadera fiesta. Las tiendas exponen sus diseños de vanguardia y sus propuestas mas novedosas.

The tour begins with some shows in the streets. From illuminated balloons to tightrope walkers and live DJ´s. The blocks that make up the Arenales District become a real party for everyone. The stores display their avant-garde designs and their latest interior design collections.

Interiores

Cada firma presentó sus diseños. El evento reúne desde arquitectos y artistas como también a montones de influencers, celebrities, y curiosos que se sienten atraidos por la invitacion. Las propuestas de los diseñadores son bien diversas y hay para todos los gustos. El ambiente es alegre, y la jornada la disfrutan tanto los expertos en Diseño como incluso los niños.

Interiors Each firm presented their designs. The event brings together architects and artists so as many influencers, celebrities, and curious people who are attracted by the invitation. The designers collections are usually very diverse and there is always something for everyone. The atmosphere is cheerful, and the show is enjoyed not only by design experts but children as well.

Puntos de encuentro

Lo que mas se destacó en las diferentes propuestas fue la reminiscencia a los años 60. Los muebles curvos, y los tonos color nude o incluso "Dusty Pink" detectado por Promostyl. También los celestes y grises fueron los tonos mas elegidos por los diseñadores.

Meeting points For me, what most stood out in the different design offers, was the reminiscence to the 60´s. The curved furniture, and the nude color tones (or even "Dusty Pink" detected by Promostyl). Also the "dusty" light blues and grays were the tones most chosen by the designers.

La casa Landmark fue una de las firmas que mas se inclino por la fuerte estética de años 60. Los tonos grisáseos fueron contrastados por dorados que se vieron principalmente reflejados en las patas de los muebles, objetos de decoración y en el interior de las bombitas de luz.

The Landmark store was one of the firms that were most inclined to the strong aesthetics of the 60´s. The grayish tones were contrasted by golds that were mainly reflected in the legs of the furniture, decoration objects and the inside of the light bulbs.

En el caso de Walmer, los tonos se inclinaron mas hacia los verdes y petróleos. Aunque la estética de los años 50 y 60 también fue evocada por la firma. El estilo de Walmer fue mas moderno y los recursos mas variados. Hubieron toques mas modernos e incluso orientales. (Ej: como las lamparas y biombos). Mas sobre esta tienda

In the case of Walmer, the tones were more inclined towards greens and "petrol". Although the aesthetics of the 50´s and 60´s was also evoked by the firm. Walmer's style was much more modern and the resources they used for creating it, were more varied as well. There were even some oriental touches. (Ex: like the lamps and screens/"biombos"). La obra de Gaspar Libedinsky: Serie Kunstformen der Natur- MDF escobillón doméstico y acrílico fue una de las que mas me llamo la atención. La textura de los escobillones dieron una sensación de arte impresionista. De lejos se percibían como grandes pinceladas. La textura lograda por el artista se adapto a la perfección al conjunto.

For me, the art work of Gaspar Libedinsky: Series Kunstformen der Natur - MDF domestic and acrylic brush was one of the most striking one. The texture of the brooms brush produce a sensation of some kind of impressionist art. The texture achieved by the artist adapted into perfection to the whole place.

Las obras se acoplaron a la perfección, no solo en colorimetría sino en textura también. El espacio dentro de Walmer a cargo del diseñador Martin tenia variadas texturas y diferentes recursos. Desde una hamaca, hasta una bicicleta.

The art works matched perfectly with its colors but also by its texture. I adored the space designed inside Walmer by the designer Martin. It had a wide variety of textures and many different resources. You could find from a hammock, to a bicycle in the same space.

ILUMINACIÓN

Siendo éste un evento nocturno, la iluminación fue la pieza clave para generar el ambiente. Dejando de lado totalmente cualquier tipo de estética minimalista, la iluminación también reflejo aires retro. Adoptó texturas naturales como raphia y el hilo sisal y tomo formas principalmente circulares.

ILLUMINATION

Being this a night event, lighting was the key to generating the environment. Leaving aside any type of minimalist aesthetic, the lighting also reflects retro airs. Lamps adopted natural textures such as raphia and sisal thread and took mainly circular shapes.

Recurso constante

Atrás quedo la geometría angulosa y cubica. El circulo y la curva son las formas predominantes en la propuesta general.

Main resource

Leaving behind the angular and cubic geometry of years ago. The circle and the curve become the main shape in the general design structure offer.

Aires orientales

Encontré aires orientales en el efecto origami y acordeón de algunos objetos. como también en biombos y texturas que evocan a la fisionomía de la caña de bambú.

Oriental touch

I found some oriental touches in the origami effect and accordion texture of some objects. I also found it in biombos/Screens and some textures that evoke the physiognomy of bamboo cane as well.

Pisos

La propuesta se centro en parquets. La madera volvio a encontrar su espacio. Tanto en Patagonia flooring como Indusparquetarg

Floors

The offer was centered in parquets. The wood again found its space. Both Patagonia flooring and Indusparquetarg show this on their catalogue.

Textiles

La propuesta de colores como siempre es variada.

Fabrics

The colors offer, was quite varied as usual.

Personal Thoughts..

Es imposible para mi no disfrutar de este tipo de eventos. Realmente creo que Distrito Arenales ofrece diseño de calidad y vanguardia pero a su vez, trasladable a hogares comunes que adoran estar a la moda. El diseño Argentino logra imprimir su sello en cualquier tendencia mundial que siga.

Recomiendo a cualquier persona en Buenos Aires a animarse a ir y dejarse encantar por nuestros talentosos diseñadores y artistas.

It is impossible for me not to enjoy this kind of shows. I believe that Arenales District offers a avant-garde and high quality design which is also, quite adaptable into regular homes that loves to follow trends. The Argentine design manages to print its own stamp/style on any global trend that it follows. I encourage to anyone in Buenos Aires to visit this show and allow themselves to be enchanted by our talented designers and artists.
